We’d Love to Publish Your Transgender Success Stories

We’ve been using the Angels site as a transgender news aggregator for quite a while now, but I’d like to get back to publishing positive stories, advice and guides from our members and readers. We’ve already had some great beauty advice articles from Alex (thanks!).

Maybe you’d like to write about how you came out to friends/family or how you transitioned at work. Perhaps you could share your first time out in public as a woman.  Change the names and places if you want to keep them private. Aim to write about 500-1000 words if you can. Include your email address so we can tell you if and when it’s published on the Angels site here.

If you want to submit a story directly, then go to this page and send it to us. Or if you have an idea for something different, then contact me (joanna@theangels.co.uk) to discuss it further.

So.. wow. We’ve made it to the big 1 – 5 🙂

We was born on 30th Jan 2000 as the UK Angels webring with the Yahoo Group taking a few more weeks to get going. The website and forum soon followed.

We’re still here – and whilst a lot of the old crowd have moved on to other things, it’s good to see that the forum is still busy, and still welcoming new members.

Thanks all for the support over the years, both old and new members!

Andreja Pejic Is in Her Own Skin for the Very First Time

(Style.com) t be seeing any more of Andrej Pejic, the androgynous male model who rose to fame in 2010 after Carine Roitfeld had him photographed in womenswear for Paris Vogue. An onslaught of editorials followed (including a shirtless Dossier Journal cover that was essentially banned by Barnes & Noble for fear their customers would think he was a naked woman), and he even walked as the beautiful bride in Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring ’11 Couture show (below). But Andrej’s days on the runway are over. However, Andreja’s career is just getting started.

Sparkle Update May 2010

With just two months to go before Sparkle 2010 we wanted to bring you the latest update:

Tickets for the Sparkle Ball are selling well, but as we have to pay for the buffet in advance there will definitely be no tickets on sale at Sparkle and in fact sales will close by mid-June. So if you are thinking about attending the Saturday night Ball then please book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment! See http://www.sparkle.org.uk/sparkleball.html

Entries for the new Tranny’s Got Talent and Tranny of The Year are open now. Again if you are thinking of taking part in either then please don’t leave your entry too late. Both have a maximum number of entrants and last minute entries may be disappointed. We are happy to welcome back those who took part in TOTY last year. See http://www.sparkle.org.uk/toty.html

And finally we do need a bit of help from you too! As previously we are looking for some volunteers to act as Stewards in the park on the Saturday afternoon. You would only be required to do a two hour ‘shift’ – 12 noon until 2pm / 2 – 4 / 4 – 6 or 6 – 7.30pm. The choice of time is down to you. We are obliged by law to have Stewards or the event can’t take place, it’s not hard work and we would appreciate some support.

If you are willing to volunteer then please contact Jane Maybe who is the Chief Steward this year: jane_maybe@yahoo.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you all in July!
